Xeomin

Xeomin has recently been approved by the FDA for use in the treatment of severe frown lines. Incobotulinumtoxin A or Xeomin works much like Botox and Dysport, which are similar injectable toxins. Xeomin makes facial wrinkles less noticeable by blocking the nerve signals to the muscles that form these wrinkles and fine lines. This prevents the contraction of that targeted muscle and makes the fine lines and wrinkles appear not as noticeable.

An advantage to Xeomin is that it does not contain any additives, which reduces the chances of a patient developing antibodies to it.

Am I a good candidate for Xeomin?
Many patients can benefit from Xeomin injections and can see great results that can help wrinkles, frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet. Xeomin can also bring great results to patients who have wrinkles and fine lines due to aging. Due to the many benefits of Xeomin, some patients prefer Xeomin over Botox when choosing their injectable.
What happens during Xeomin treatment?

Now approved in 20 countries for use, Xeomin is injected directly into the treatment site with a very fine needle. Though it is not a painful treatment, a topical numbing cream may be used to increase comfort. It is important to visit an experienced doctor for your treatment, since Botox, Xeomin and Dysport must not be used interchangeably.

Xeomin treatment only takes about 15 minutes. Depending on the degree of your lines and wrinkles, 2 to 5 injections may be required for the treatment site.

What is recovery like from Xeomin?
Most patients return to their normal daily routine immediately following treatment. Although, any strenuous activities should be avoided for the rest of the day. Any redness or swelling will resolve on its own and any bruising may only last for a few days.
What results can I expect from Xeomin?
Usually your Xeomin treatment results will be visible within a week’s time after your treatment. Your results will last for about 3 to 6 months. Over time, wrinkles and lines will return. Depending on your age, lifestyle habits and condition of your skin, you may require a follow-up appointment to evaluate if touch-up treatments are necessary to keep your skin looking younger and wrinkle-free.
