Chemical Peels

A Chemical Peel is a topical treatment in which a chemical solution is used to remove the damaged, most outer layers of your skin to give you a smoother texture and complexion. Chemical Peels are one of the least invasive aesthetic treatments for skin enhancement available. A Chemical Peel primarily treats uneven skin, acne scars or spots, wrinkles, aging skin, and damaged skin from sun exposure.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Chemical Peel?

We are able to treat all skin types with our Chemical Peels, and a good candidate would be someone looking for a more even pigment, improvement in acne and acne scarring, skin texture and anti-aging. However, before scheduling your appointment, you must have realistic expectations from this treatment. One of our experts at Covet MedSpa will guide you to determine what peel is best for your skin type for the desired results.

What is recovery like from a Chemical Peel?

Depending on the kind of peel you choose, your recovery may vary:

If you had a light superficial treatment, very little recovery time is required. Most patients return to their daily activities immediately following treatment.

If you opted for a medium or deep peel, the recovery period will be longer. There may be peeling for the first week or two over the treatment area. Any swelling or redness from the treatment will fade away on its own. You may have a pinkish skin tone following treatment, but this will fade away with time as well.

What is the treatment procedure?

The formula of a Chemical Peel consists of phenol, trichloroacetic acid, and alphahydroxy acids. This formula can also be customized to best fit you and your skin, depending on your skin texture. Here are the 3 different types of Chemical Peels available:

  • A light peel which offers subtle enhancement.
  • A medium peel which gives you a smooth and fresh look.
  • A deep peel which gives you dramatic results.
What will my results be like from a Chemical peel?

If you had a deep Chemical Peel treatment, you will see the full results of your peel once your skin has fully recovered. The results of a deeper peel are more drastic and last longer than other treatment options.

If you select a lighter Chemical Peel, you may have to receive periodic follow-up treatments to maintain the best results. Deep wrinkles will eventually return with aging, however, a Chemical Peel can bring you months or even years of youthful and rejuvenated skin.

Many patients in Southfield, West Bloomfield, Farmington Hills and Bloomfield, MI opt for a chemical peel for their face, but some patients choose a chemical peel to treat the skin of the neck and hands. Contact us today to see what a Chemical Peel can do for you.

The Benefits of A Chemical Peel

Chemical peels are a versatile and effective treatment for a variety of skin concerns, including acne, sun damage, and signs of aging. By applying a chemical solution to the skin, a controlled exfoliation process is initiated, causing the outer layers of damaged skin to peel away. This reveals smoother, healthier skin underneath, with improved texture, tone, and overall appearance.

One of the primary benefits of chemical peels is their ability to address multiple skin issues in a single treatment. Depending on the depth of the peel, they can target superficial imperfections like acne and mild discoloration or deeper concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles. Chemical peels are also customizable, with different formulations and strengths available to suit individual skin types and concerns. Additionally, chemical peels stimulate collagen production, which can help improve skin firmness and elasticity over time.
