Ultherapy

The only FDA approved non-invasive procedure for lifting the skin on the neck, brow, décolletage and under the chin, Ultherapy is the next evolution in cosmetic procedures. This treatment uses focused ultrasound and your own healing process for tightening, lifting, and toning loose and sagging skin. Our patients are very excited about this new treatment since no foreign substance is used and there is no downtime.

Am I a Good Candidate for Ultherapy?

If the skin around your neck or under the chin is lax and sagging, you may be a great candidate for skin tightening with Ultherapy. Other problem areas that can be treated by Ultherapy include the excess skin of the brow and décolletage. If you struggle from any of these symptoms, you may be a good candidate for this procedure.

Even though this procedure is not a replacement for a surgical facelift or neck lift, it is a great option for those who are not quite ready for that type of invasive procedure. Most patients who choose Ultherapy are in their 40s or 50s and have mild to moderately lax skin. Additionally, Ultherapy also helps patients in maintaining the results of their cosmetic facelift when paired together.

What happens during the Ultherapy procedure?

Depending on the treatment area and your treatment plan, the Ultherapy treatment would typically last from thirty minutes to an hour and a half. Energy wavelengths are targeted directly into the deep tissues bypassing the surface of the skin. This initiates the process of collagen building so that your skin tightens and tones from within. The procedure itself is comfortable and most patients say they feel small amounts of discomfort during the delivery of the ultrasound energy. However, this is temporary and a good sign since it shows that the process of collagen building has begun.
What is recovery like from Ultherapy?

No downtime is required following Ultherapy from our Dermatologists in Royal Oak and you can resume your normal daily activities immediately following your treatment. Your skin may have a slight redness to it for about an hour after the procedure. A small amount of patients also experience a tingling feeling in the treatment location, mild swelling, or tenderness to the touch. However, these effects are temporary and resolve on their own in a short period of time.
What can I expect from my Ultherapy results?

You will notice skin tightening and lifting (fresh collagen) starting 6 to 12 months after the initial treatment. However, no matter what you do, your skin continues to age. Even though the results vary from patient to patient, you will most likely require future touch-up treatments in order to keep up with your aging process.
